Official Announcement – and its BIG!

December 17, 2021

It is with great excitement I share some very exciting news and the next step for Cahoots…

After five years of planning, prudent governance and the generous support of our WA partners and community, we have managed to realise our audacious big dream – having our own fit for purpose Cahoots’ campground!

It has long been our vision and part of our strategic growth plans, to acquire a camping facility that will enable further expansion of our services. This is primarily to cater to more and diverse groups of vulnerable young people and members of our community, who may benefit from our unique learning and experiential growth opportunities.

From 3rd January 2022, Cahoots will be taking over the much-loved Kerem Adventure Camp located in Bullsbrook, Perth. Cahoots will operate this facility as a for- purpose social enterprise, which will allow service growth, and the ability to cater to more young people and their families, in an impactful way.

Cahoots will work with the existing (18) camp staff, who are also committed to continuing to improve this amazing facility, by focusing on increasing accessibility and opportunities for more families to be involved through day activities, camps and community events.

Income generated through this for-purpose campground will help more children and young people who face exceptional challenges, or are living with disability, gain access to experiences that can improve their overall wellbeing and grow an inclusive community through social connection.

“It is a dream to see this plan come to life for Cahoots. Our entire team of staff, volunteers, our participants, their families, and the broader Perth and WA community will benefit from Cahoots running this amazing camping facility. I’m very proud of the work we’ve done to prepare Cahoots for this next step in our strategy, and excited to see how this investment continues to transform our charity to have a greater positive impact on the lives of young people in WA.” – Jess Karlsson   CEO Cahoots

Help us, help others

No matter how small, your contribution goes towards helping Cahoots lower the costs for families using our services. Whilst we are NDIS funded, there is often a shortfall between the funding and the cost of our activities, so your donations mean families can still send their loved ones to our camps and programs.

For many, Cahoots is a life changing experience for both the participants who grow, learn and enjoy themselves, but it also provides respite to parents and families from the demands of full time care. Anything you can spare is greatly appreciated.
