Kids Overnight Supports

This page contains all the info you need to know about booking overnight supports for ages 5-11.

Cahoots provides individualised, community-based support services designed to help participants build independence, develop life skills, and increase social and community participation for our children and young people living with a disability.

Our group-based supports are delivered in a safe, inclusive, and structured environment by trained staff who tailor activities to each participant’s disability-related support needs and NDIS goals.

Our services are not “camps” in the traditional sense, but rather structured support sessions delivered in community settings that provide participants with meaningful opportunities to:

  • Learn and practice daily living skills (e.g., personal care, routines, self-management)
  • Build social confidence and communication in group environments
  • Access the community safely with supervision (e.g., transport training)
  • Participate in recreational activities that foster wellbeing
  • Improve emotional regulation and teamwork through structured group activities.

Our service is delivered by trained staff who work with participants in ratios suited to their needs (e.g., 1:1, 1:2), following NDIS quality and safeguarding standards.

For participants aged 5-11, Cahoots offers the following overnight supports:

Kids Camp

Designed for participants requiring a care ratio of 1:2, Kids Camps practice capacity-building and develop social skills through epic adventures and inclusive fun. Our leaders ensure every participant shines. Each Camp is held at a different location and incorporates a variety of outings and on-site activities. Kids Camps run on select weekends and mid-week throughout the year and are inclusive of catering, activities and accommodation.

High Support Kids Camp

Tailored to participants with a care ratio of 1:1, our High Support Kids Camps focus on taking steps towards NDIS goals and developing positive behaviours with peers and in the community. Personal care assistance and alternative communication methods are available on our High Support Kids Camps. These camps run on select weekends and mid-week throughout the year and are inclusive of catering, activities and accommodation.

Important Notes

Cahoots works in partnership with families, Support Coordinators, and plan managers to ensure supports are aligned with each participant’s NDIS plan and goals.

We encourage participants and families to confirm with their LAC or MyNDIS contact that the supports they intend to claim align with their approved funding categories.

Participants using self-managed or plan-managed funding will receive a breakdown of support costs and are encouraged to confirm access to the relevant NDIS line items before attending.

What’s Included Under NDIS-Funded Support:

  • Direct support by trained staff (1:1, 1:2 ratios based on participant needs)
  • Skill-building and personal development aligned with participant goals
  • Capacity Building and Social & Community Participation support aligned with NDIS goals
  • Coordination, planning, risk management, and admin
  • Quality and safeguarding standards
  • Implementation of participant behaviour and communication strategies
  • Supervision and support throughout the session
  • Quality, safeguarding, and insurance

Costs Covered or Not Covered – Depending on Your Plan

Depending on the participant’s NDIS plan and the support item being used (e.g., Core Supports or Group-Based Activities under Category 0136), the following costs may be claimable:

  • Accommodation and meals during overnight stays
  • Venue entry fees and recreational activity costs
  • Transport to and from the activity
  • Materials and equipment used during the activity (e.g., art supplies)

If the participant is funded under a support item that does not allow these costs (e.g., 0125 or 0136 without accommodation provisions), These items may be covered through Cahoots donor support, or may be charged as out-of-pocket costs where applicable. We are committed to keeping these costs as low as possible for families.

NDIS funding may be available through Core Supports or Capacity Building categories, depending on your plan and goals.

We will confirm the support item and pricing approach with you before finalising any booking.

Families Supported By Cahoots

Mikayla

Cahoots has helped Mikayla in so many ways I couldn’t even begin to describe it. One of the biggest ones is being socially appropriate in environment outside the home. That has been the biggest help for me. As now I can take her out, and she knows how to behave not only appropriately but safely. Also interacting with other children naturally she is not a sociable person and this is helped her to socialise with children her own age. It’s also helped her with her balance and gross motor skills with arts and craft and the activities that you do. For example bowling and parks.

Bronwyn

Thank you for taking Bronwyn to Melbourne, she hasn't stopped talking about it! She has crossed another place off her map of future travels (believe me, it's a big list!!), and told many stories about the fun she had. For me, this has been the highlight and warms my soul every time I think about it.
She gave her little sister a pep talk where she told her, “you just have to face your fear and do things sometimes, as I did in Melbourne, I went out on the sky deck and did the chair ride with Shelley, I was scared but you have to face your fears, you can't let it hold you back.”
Bronwyn loves attending camp with Cahoots, she has the best time. Thank you for all the fun and adventures you send her on. She loves living life and wants to experience everything, we appreciate you helping that happen for her.

Siblings Alexandra and Andrew

“Alexandra has just been on the most recent teens camp last weekend and loved it, plus she made a friend!!! So happy for her and she really wants to attend again. Andrew loved the camp as well and can’t wait to come back!” - Mum Rikki

Anonymous volunteer

I just want to say thank you to you and the whole Cahoots team for giving me the opportunity to volunteer on the camps. I really enjoyed the young adults camp and had an amazing time. I am still new in the industry. This gave me a great learning experience, and I will carry my knowledge on.
Thank you again for everything and for all you have provided.
