About Cahoots

We are a registered NDIS provider, running a variety of inclusive services throughout the year, catering to people of all abilities aged 5+.

Each of our activities is run by a trained and experienced team of all ages and backgrounds. Our team is caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated to making our services the most engaging and rewarding experience it can be for the young people in Cahoots’ care.

Our Purpose

Our purpose at Cahoots (formerly Kids’ Camps) is to create inclusive opportunities for children and young people living with disability and others that face exceptional challenges to develop friendships, skills and confidence.

Who do we help and why

We believe that everyone, of all abilities, should be able to have fun, make friends, and take part in the local community. We provide inclusive opportunities for young west Aussies living with disabilities, from age 5 through to adulthood

We provide a unique 1:1 level of care for those who need additional support, setting us apart from other disability organisations, that lack the resources to facilitate such a high level of care.

How We Help

Through overnight camps, community participation, and capacity-building activities, we support our participants to grow their independence and develop relationships and social skills while having a whole heap of fun! Our camps and day programs are tailored to our participants individual needs, offering different services based on their care requirements and age.

Our friendly and engaging team are able to support you every step of the way, from booking right through to the camp or program end.

Our Commitment

Our commitment to quality ensures our services are always of the highest standard.
Our commitment to accountability is reflected in the transparency of all that we do.
Our commitment to safety ensures that campers can explore new experiences and extend their boundaries in a supportive environment.

Our History

Cahoots began as Kids Camps in 1981 by a group of families to give each other respite for their children with an intellectual disability. By 1999, Cahoots had grown to deliver 17 camps annually, with 273 participants. In 2015, Kids Camps was approved as an NDIS provider and rebranded to Cahoots in 2017.

Since then, Cahoots has introduced day programs and High Support services, launched a Bunbury office, and opened Cahoots Family Centre in Bayswater. This has enabled us to increase the number of camps we offer annually, to help as many young people as possible. In 2022, Cahoots took over Kerem Adventure Camp, and now uses the campground to run camps and other community initiatives.

Families Supported By Cahoots

Mikayla

Cahoots has helped Mikayla in so many ways I couldn’t even begin to describe it. One of the biggest ones is being socially appropriate in environment outside the home. That has been the biggest help for me. As now I can take her out, and she knows how to behave not only appropriately but safely. Also interacting with other children naturally she is not a sociable person and this is helped her to socialise with children her own age. It’s also helped her with her balance and gross motor skills with arts and craft and the activities that you do. For example bowling and parks.

Bronwyn

Thank you for taking Bronwyn to Melbourne, she hasn't stopped talking about it! She has crossed another place off her map of future travels (believe me, it's a big list!!), and told many stories about the fun she had. For me, this has been the highlight and warms my soul every time I think about it.
She gave her little sister a pep talk where she told her, “you just have to face your fear and do things sometimes, as I did in Melbourne, I went out on the sky deck and did the chair ride with Shelley, I was scared but you have to face your fears, you can't let it hold you back.”
Bronwyn loves attending camp with Cahoots, she has the best time. Thank you for all the fun and adventures you send her on. She loves living life and wants to experience everything, we appreciate you helping that happen for her.

Siblings Alexandra and Andrew

“Alexandra has just been on the most recent teens camp last weekend and loved it, plus she made a friend!!! So happy for her and she really wants to attend again. Andrew loved the camp as well and can’t wait to come back!” - Mum Rikki

Anonymous volunteer

I just want to say thank you to you and the whole Cahoots team for giving me the opportunity to volunteer on the camps. I really enjoyed the young adults camp and had an amazing time.I am still new in the industry. This gave me a great learning experience, and I will carry my knowledge on.
Thank you again for everything and for all you have provided.
